HUTB Receives the Gold Prize of the Youth Volunteer Service Contest of Hunan Province

On May 26, the finals of Hunan Province “Millions of Teenagers Learn from Lei Feng” Volunteer Service Exchange Meeting & the 5th “Lei Feng Cup” Youth Volunteer Service Contest came to a successful conclusion. After months of careful preparation, the HUTB youth volunteer team won 1 gold prize and 1 bronze prize. HUTB received “Excellent Organization Award” from the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China. Only four colleges in Hunan received this award.
Themed on “Welcome the 20th National Congress, Follow the Party All One’s Life, Embark on New Journey” and under the brand of “learn from Lei Feng in Lei Feng’s hometown”, the contest was organized by the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China in collaboration with 17 government departments and commissions. More than 1200 projects signed up for the contest. After selection, a total of 120 projects entered the finals. The contest was divided into 14 groups, and the award comprised three prizes, namely gold prize, silver prize and bronze prize. It is the first time to hold the contest in the form of online open reply and live webcast.
The “Help Patients with Autism and Down’s Syndrome to Find Jobs” project organized by the HUTB Student Youth Volunteer Association won the gold prize. The “Support Epidemic Prevention and Control” project organized by the youth volunteer association of the School of Computer Science, HUTB won the bronze prize. The “Help Patients with Autism and Down’s Syndrome to Find Jobs” project aims to provide employment assistance and social behavior training to special groups with autism and Down’s syndrome. This project has served for more than 7980 hours, and provided assistance to 280 families. The “Support Epidemic Prevention and Control” volunteer service project donated epidemic prevention supplies totaling RMB70,980 to schools and enterprises in Hunan, effectively relieving the shortage of epidemic prevention materials for some schools and enterprises.
The performance of HUTB young volunteers in the contest not only demonstrates the volunteer service spirit of “dedication, friendship, mutual help and progress”, but also embodies the good achievements made by HUTB in youth volunteer service. This achievement will further encourage HUTB young volunteers groups to continue pursuing concrete projects, strong systems and quality brands, carry forward the volunteer spirit of “dedication, friendship, mutual help and progress”, dedicate themselves to the conduct of volunteer service activities, deliver higher quality volunteer service projects, and contribute their share building China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful.
